Does Random Drug Testing Program Provide Value?

According to Survey, by the Substance abuse and Mental health Administration, the number of drug users are rising by the millions and it may continue to rise as time goes on. This is where the importance of drug testing comes in.

Every company that requires drug testing from among their employees has a goal to protect themselves from hiring someone who is a drug user, and we hope that this will help curb drug use from among the people we work with in the office. As a matter of fact, many of the workplaces in the US are requiring the pre-employment drug testing, however they do not have much participation when it comes to employment random drug testing program.

Government agencies are known to follow strict guidelines when it comes to following a protocol in doing drug testing for their employees. That includes the treatment of an employee who is undergoing substance abuse and drug testing and they also have a set of rules for employees who are returning to work after having done a treatment from drug use. Things like these depends per state and yet for sure, the goal is to help eliminate drugs drug use from among the workplaces and hopefully in the lives of the American people who for the most part are trying their best to provide for their families.

If we look at it closely, this random drug testing program does have it’s value if only being applied to the workplace. However, since the drug test conducted is just a pre-qualification, and there is only one drug test requirements that will cover for the entire course of their employed life, there could be ample time for them to stop using just until they pass the test and start using drugs again after passing the test. So if the government’s goal is to really curb drug use. Then they ought to consider a random drug test from among their employees should they want to eliminate drug use from the society.

Employers who are not taking advantage of such will most likely not be able to help deter drug use from their company and the community.
